Oinam, Manipur, Nov 29: In a significant effort to strengthen healthcare services and community engagement, Assam Rifles, under Spear Corps, organised a blood donation camp on November 28, 2025, at the Oinam Community Hall in Manipur. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with Red Cross India, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal, National Health Mission (Manipur), and the Lions & Leo Club Oinam, reflecting a strong partnership between the armed forces, medical institutions, and civil society.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, who voluntarily donated blood to support patients in hospitals across the region. Assam Rifles personnel actively assisted in the smooth execution of the drive, guiding donors through registration, medical screening, and the donation process, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
Medical teams from RIMS and NHM conducted thorough health checks before donation, including hemoglobin testing, blood pressure monitoring, and eligibility assessment. The camp also provided awareness sessions on the importance of voluntary blood donation, safe practices, and the life-saving impact of donating blood, particularly in emergency situations and for patients with chronic medical conditions.
The collaborative effort aimed not only to collect life-saving blood units but also to foster a spirit of service, social responsibility, and cooperation between the armed forces and local communities. Residents expressed their gratitude for Assam Rifles’ initiative, emphasizing that such programs strengthen the bond between the forces and the public while contributing meaningfully to healthcare delivery in remote areas.
Officials highlighted that the camp forms part of Assam Rifles’ broader commitment under Operation Sadbhavana, which focuses on welfare, healthcare, and community outreach in Northeast India. The successful drive concluded with the collection of a significant number of blood units, which will directly benefit patients in need, reinforcing the critical role of community participation in public health initiatives.
