Palakkad, Jan 10: The Assam Rifles successfully conducted a Veterans’ Outreach Drive at Palakkad, Kerala, on January 9, 2026, reinforcing its continued commitment to the welfare of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and their Next of Kin (NOK).
The outreach programme witnessed the active participation of the veteran community, with a total of 70 Ex-Servicemen and NOKs attending the event. The initiative served as an important platform for addressing long-pending issues, spreading awareness about welfare schemes, and strengthening the connect between the force and its veterans.
During the drive, 27 grievances were received from the participants. Of these, 17 grievances were resolved on the spot, providing immediate relief to the beneficiaries, while the remaining 10 cases were taken up for further action by the concerned authorities.
As part of the welfare initiatives, free medical examinations along with medicines were provided to 15 beneficiaries, ensuring basic healthcare support to veterans and their families. In addition, 45 new Ex-Servicemen were registered on the Sampark Setu App, enabling improved access to veteran-centric services, information, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
The programme also featured informative lectures on welfare initiatives and policies, delivered by the Director ARESA and the Officer-in-Charge (Veteran), Headquarters DGAR. The sessions helped participants gain clarity on pension matters, medical benefits, resettlement schemes, and digital platforms designed for veterans’ welfare.
The Ex-Servicemen and NOKs expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) and the Assam Rifles outreach team for their concern, dedicated efforts, and sustained commitment towards the well-being of veterans and their families.
The outreach drive reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ enduring role not only as a frontline security force but also as a guardian of its veterans’ welfare and dignity, ensuring that those who have served the nation continue to receive support and care.
