Changlang, June 11: Assam Rifles paid solemn tribute to Lance Naik (General Duty) Late Jang Bahadur Mall in a wreath-laying ceremony held at the Unit War Memorial in Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh on June 11, 2026.

The ceremony was organised to honour the supreme sacrifice of the brave soldier, who laid down his life on June 11, 1956, at Mao in Nagaland during a road-opening patrol operation. He made the ultimate sacrifice while courageously responding to an attack by insurgents, upholding the highest traditions of valour and duty in service of the nation.
Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and troops of Assam Rifles participated in the ceremony with solemn respect and reverence. A wreath was laid at the memorial, followed by floral tributes offered by all ranks in remembrance of the fallen soldier.
A Guard of Honour was also presented in recognition of his bravery, dedication, and selfless service. The solemn occasion reflected the deep respect and gratitude of the force towards its martyrs who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Speaking on the occasion, personnel reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the legacy of courage and sacrifice demonstrated by Lance Naik Jang Bahadur Mall and all fallen heroes of the Assam Rifles.
The ceremony concluded with the rendering of honors, as the unit paid heartfelt homage to the martyr, ensuring that his sacrifice continues to inspire future generations of soldiers.
