During the visit, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the War Memorial in Shangshak to honour the martyrs of the historic 1944 Battle of Shangshak, a significant World War II conflict in which Indian soldiers valiantly resisted advancing Japanese forces.
The interaction provided a platform for ex-servicemen to share experiences, discuss veterans’ welfare, and strengthen ties with the Assam Rifles, while reaffirming respect for the sacrifices made by soldiers in defence of the nation.
