Assam Rifles pays tributes to fallen bravehearts

Imphal, Dec 9: Assam Rifles under Spear Corps held solemn wreath-laying ceremonies at Modi and Tengnoupal in Manipur on 7 and 8 December 2025 to honour two Bravehearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty decades ago.

At Modi, officials and troops paid homage to Rifleman Rakesh Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice in 2001 while serving the nation with exceptional courage. At Tengnoupal, a similar ceremony was held in memory of Rifleman Lapka Damdum, who laid down his life in 1956.
During the observances, Assam Rifles personnel laid wreaths, offered prayers, and reflected on the indomitable spirit and dedication of the fallen soldiers. Officers recalled that the unwavering commitment of these Bravehearts continues to inspire the Force, reminding young soldiers of the legacy they uphold.
The ceremonies reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ tradition of honouring its martyrs and strengthened the collective resolve to continue serving the nation with the same valour, integrity and devotion exemplified by those remembered.
