Imphal, July 23: The Assam Rifles organised an awareness lecture on the use of biogas and solar power at L. Hengjol KSO School in Kangpokpi district of Manipur on July 22, highlighting the importance of renewable energy and sustainable living.

The programme was attended by students, teachers and local residents, who were sensitised about the benefits of clean energy technologies and their role in environmental conservation.
During the session, resource persons explained how biogas and solar energy can reduce dependence on conventional fuels, lower energy costs and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment. Participants were also encouraged to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives to support sustainable development.
The lecture focused on creating awareness about renewable energy as a practical solution for rural communities, particularly in remote areas where access to conventional energy sources can be limited.
Officials said the initiative was part of the Assam Rifles' ongoing civic action programmes aimed at promoting environmental awareness while strengthening engagement with local communities.
The event also served as a platform to foster mutual trust, cooperation and positive interaction between the security forces and the people, reinforcing the Assam Rifles' commitment to community development alongside its security responsibilities.
Participants appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that similar awareness programmes would continue to encourage sustainable practices and environmental responsibility among the younger generation.
