October 11, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Udaipur, Oct 10: The Veteran Cell of Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles conducted an outreach drive at Udaipur in Tripura on October 9, bringing together around 100 Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Next of Kin (NOKs) from South Tripura, Gomati and Sepahijala districts.

The initiative aimed to address the concerns of veterans and their families while facilitating access to essential support services.
During the programme, 17 grievances were received for necessary action, while 32 Ex-Servicemen received free medical treatment. The outreach drive provided a platform for veterans and their dependants to raise their concerns and seek assistance on issues requiring attention.
The initiative reflected Assam Rifles’ continued commitment to the welfare of its veterans and their families, recognising their service and sacrifices. Such outreach programmes help strengthen the connection between the organisation and its veteran community while ensuring that their concerns receive due consideration.
The participating veterans and NOKs expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles, and the team for organising the programme. They appreciated the initiative and requested that similar outreach drives be conducted regularly to address the needs of veterans and their families.
The event concluded with lunch for all attendees, providing an opportunity for interaction and fellowship among participants.
The outreach drive underscored Assam Rifles’ emphasis on veteran welfare and its continued efforts to extend support, medical assistance and grievance redressal services to former personnel and their families.
