September 01, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Aizawl, Aug 31: Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps has intensified its vigil against trans-border narcotics trafficking with the recovery of 250.21 grams of Heroin No. 4, valued at approximately ₹1.87 crore, during an intelligence-based operation at Zokhawthar in Mizoram.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Assam Rifles personnel launched the operation in the Zokhawthar area and intercepted the suspected narcotics consignment. The seized contraband was subsequently taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
The recovery highlights the continuing efforts of security forces to check the movement of narcotics through the vulnerable border areas of the Northeast. Zokhawthar, located along the India–Myanmar border, is an important transit point, making sustained surveillance and intelligence-led operations crucial to disrupting illicit trafficking networks.
The operation also underscores the importance of coordinated efforts to prevent narcotics from reaching local communities and wider markets. Security agencies have been maintaining heightened vigilance along border routes and other vulnerable areas to identify and disrupt trafficking channels.
Officials said the seizure reflects the force's commitment to tackling the illegal narcotics trade and preventing the exploitation of border routes by criminal networks.
The operation reaffirmed Assam Rifles' resolve to disrupt trans-border narcotics networks, curb illicit trafficking and safeguard communities across the Northeast.
Further investigation is expected to establish the source and intended destination of the seized contraband and identify those involved in the trafficking network.
