Agartala/Kohima, July 30: Continuing its commitment to humanitarian service and community welfare, the Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps organised a series of healthcare and awareness initiatives across Tripura and Nagaland, benefiting hundreds of people through blood donation, medical assistance and health education programmes.
In Panisagar, Tripura, Assam Rifles personnel actively participated in a Blood Donation Drive, reaffirming their commitment to saving lives and supporting the healthcare system. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from troops, who voluntarily donated blood to help strengthen emergency medical services and ensure the availability of life-saving blood for patients in need.
Marking World Hepatitis Day, the force also organised a Health Awareness Programme at Meluri in Nagaland's Phek district. Medical experts and Army personnel educated residents about the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment of hepatitis, while emphasising the importance of early diagnosis, vaccination, personal hygiene and regular health check-ups. The programme aimed to spread awareness about preventing liver diseases and promoting healthier lifestyles.
In another humanitarian initiative, Assam Rifles conducted a Free Medical and Dental Camp at Noksen in Tuensang district, Nagaland, where a team of doctors and healthcare professionals provided free medical consultations, dental examinations and medicines to local residents. The camp focused on preventive healthcare, timely diagnosis and treatment of common ailments, benefiting people from remote areas with limited access to specialised medical facilities.
Villagers expressed appreciation for the initiatives, stating that such programmes play a crucial role in improving healthcare access and spreading awareness in rural and border areas.
