
Kohima, Oct 10: As part of its ongoing welfare initiatives, HQ IGAR (East) conducted a virtual interaction with Smt Suman Tanwar, mother of Late Rifleman Shri Bhagwan of 16 #AssamRifles, who was martyred fighting insurgents in Arunachal Pradesh on 03 Dec 2016.
In a deeply emotional session, it was revealed that Smt Tanwar had lost her husband and two sons—all serving in Assam Rifles—leaving her and other women of the family to manage the household with remarkable resilience.
Brig Anuj Upadhyay, Dy IG, and Col A briefed her on various welfare schemes, including the Sampark Setu app and educational quotas for wards of martyrs. Grievances regarding employment, documentation, and ECHS cards were noted and are being addressed in coordination with ARESA.
The Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to stand by the families of its fallen heroes, honoring their sacrifice and ensuring support for their welfare, reflecting the enduring spirit and courage of the force.
