Srinagar, Aug 12: In the run-up to Independence Day 2026, the Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps organised a series of Har Ghar Tiranga campaigns, Tiranga rallies and patriotic activities across Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram, bringing together troops, students and local communities in a celebration of national unity and pride.

Tiranga rallies and Har Ghar Tiranga programmes were organised at Naginimora and Tening in Nagaland, Haflong in Assam, and Chakpikarong in Chandel district of Manipur. Participants carried the National Flag and joined activities aimed at strengthening the spirit of patriotism and reinforcing the message of unity ahead of Independence Day.
As part of commemorations marking 150 years of Vande Mataram, the Assam Rifles also conducted a range of community-oriented programmes at Serchhip and Khawbung in Mizoram, Lokra in Assam, Tupul and Noney in Manipur, and Naginimora and Tening in Nagaland.
The activities included essay-writing, mass singing, drawing, poetry and poster-making competitions, along with Tiranga runs, National Flag colouring activities and tree plantation drives. Students and residents participated enthusiastically, turning the programmes into platforms for both civic engagement and patriotic expression.
The initiatives were designed not only to mark Independence Day but also to connect younger generations with the country's national symbols, history and shared values. Through creative and participatory activities, communities were encouraged to express their understanding of patriotism while promoting environmental responsibility and social harmony.
The participation of local residents alongside Assam Rifles personnel also highlighted the importance of military-civil cooperation in the region. The programmes provided an opportunity for communities to interact with the security forces beyond their conventional role, fostering mutual trust and strengthening bonds between troops and civilians.
The Assam Rifles said such outreach initiatives reflect its commitment to engaging with communities and encouraging young people to become active participants in nation-building.
The celebrations across the Northeast added colour and enthusiasm to the Independence Day build-up, with the Tricolour serving as a common symbol of unity, sacrifice and national pride.
Through rallies, cultural activities, competitions and plantation drives, the initiatives sought to carry the message of Har Ghar Tiranga and Vande Mataram from communities to communities, reinforcing the spirit of patriotism and the shared identity that binds the diverse region with the rest of the country.
