Mon, Sep 17: Assam Rifles organised a stitching and tailoring course for women from border-area villages at Tactical Headquarters Mon, Nagaland, as part of its community welfare and skill-development initiatives.

The training programme was aimed at equipping women from remote border areas with practical stitching and tailoring skills to enhance their livelihood opportunities and promote economic self-reliance.
During the course, participants received hands-on training in basic stitching and tailoring techniques, providing them with skills that can potentially be utilised for self-employment and income generation.
The initiative focused on empowering women by creating opportunities for them to develop marketable skills and become more financially independent.
Assam Rifles said such programmes are intended to support communities living in remote and border areas by promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities and strengthening grassroots development.
The initiative also reflected the force’s continued emphasis on community engagement and welfare activities alongside its security responsibilities in the North East.
By providing vocational skills to women, the programme seeks to contribute towards greater economic participation and self-reliance among residents of border villages.
The initiative reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to women empowerment, community welfare and sustainable livelihoods, in keeping with its ethos of being the “Friends of the Hill People.”
