Kishtwar, Sep 6: The Assam Rifles successfully concluded a 14-day stitching and tailoring training programme for 20 women from Keshwan in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, as part of its community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

The training programme was conducted from August 24 to September 6, providing participants with practical skills in stitching and tailoring that can help them pursue income-generating activities and become economically more self-reliant.
The initiative was designed to equip women with vocational skills that can potentially be utilised for employment, home-based enterprises and small-scale tailoring activities. Such skill-development programmes can play an important role in creating livelihood opportunities, particularly in rural and remote areas.
As part of the concluding ceremony on September 6, a Best Stitched Dress Competition was organised to provide participants an opportunity to demonstrate the skills acquired during the training.
The participants showcased their creativity and stitching abilities through the dresses prepared during the programme. The competition also encouraged the women to apply their newly acquired skills with confidence and precision.
Prizes were presented to all participants in recognition of their enthusiasm, commitment and hard work throughout the training. The concluding event marked the successful completion of the two-week initiative and celebrated the efforts of the participating women.
The programme underscored the importance of empowering women through practical vocational training and creating avenues for sustainable livelihoods. Skill development can provide women with greater financial independence while contributing to the economic well-being of their families and communities.
