Attack on PM is attack on constitution : Shakeel Saifi

February 12, 2026 | BK News Service

New Delhi, Feb 11: Dr. Shakeel Saifi, Chairman of World Peace Harmony, has expressed serious concern over the current political climate in the country and has strongly defended the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the dignity of his constitutional office. He stated that the office of the Prime Minister of India does not belong to any one party or individual; rather, it symbolizes the nation’s Constitution and democratic system.

Dr. Saifi said in clear terms that the statement made by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla — that he had received information suggesting some opposition MPs might attempt to reach the Prime Minister’s seat and that an unexpected incident could occur — is not merely a parliamentary remark. It is a serious warning regarding the political culture of our democracy. Taking this statement lightly would be neither in the interest of democracy nor in the interest of national security.
The Prime Minister of India is not merely the leader of a political party. He is a constitutional head, the representative of the aspirations of 1.4 billion citizens, and a symbol of national unity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi occupies this position with a clear and overwhelming public mandate. In such circumstances, any apprehension of forcibly approaching his seat, particularly in a tense political environment, is not just a breach of decorum but a direct attack on constitutional propriety.
In a democracy, everyone has the right to dissent. Asking questions, criticizing the government, and debating policies are the legitimate roles of the opposition, and the stronger this role, the healthier the democracy. However, there is a clear line between dissent and disorder. If parliamentary norms themselves are violated inside the House, how can restraint be expected from the public outside?
Today, Prime Minister Modi’s leadership has established India on the global stage as a confident nation. From national security to economic reforms, from digital empowerment to restoring dignity in the lives of the poor, a clear direction is visible on every front. This is why some political forces, having lost the battle of ideas, appear to be abandoning the boundaries of language and conduct. Uproar in Parliament, the possibility of scuffles, and security risks on such a sacred platform are not signs of disagreement but of intolerance.
World Peace Harmony believes that peace is necessary not only at the borders but also within institutions. Peace in Parliament means a clash of ideas, but also distance from physical or symbolic violence. This is not merely a question of one individual’s security; it concerns the continuity and stability of democracy itself.
Prime Minister Modi has always expressed faith in dialogue and democratic processes. He considers Parliament the highest forum for policymaking. But dialogue is possible only when the atmosphere is one of trust and decorum. Amid fear, threats, or disorder, neither dialogue flourishes nor solutions emerge.
Today the nation must decide what kind of politics it wants — politics of development and ideas, or politics of noise, insult, and instability. The opposition is expected to challenge the government while still keeping the dignity of the Constitution and Parliament paramount. Dissent strengthens the nation, but anarchy weakens it.
Standing for the dignity and security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not support for any one party; it is a defense of the Constitution, Parliament, and democracy. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s warning reminds us that democracy runs not only on rights but also on responsibilities. If we forget these responsibilities, the damage to democracy will not be to one leader but to the entire nation. Therefore, standing in respect of the Constitution, democracy, and the Prime Minister of the country is the duty of every responsible citizen.
