Police in Awantipora organised drug awareness programmes at Dcode Coaching Centre Pampore and Mr English Training Academy Pampore.
These programmes were aimed at sensitising students and youth about the harmful physical, psychological, and social effects of drug abuse. During the interactive sessions, police officers highlighted the growing menace of drug addiction and its adverse impact on individuals, families, and society at large.
The participants were educated about different forms of narcotics and psychotropic substances, the early warning signs of drug addiction, and the serious legal consequences associated with drug abuse and drug trafficking under the law. Emphasis was also laid on the importance of making informed and responsible choices and adopting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The officers encouraged students to remain vigilant, resist peer pressure, and immediately report any information related to drug peddling or abuse to the police. The role of parents, teachers, and educational institutions in preventing substance abuse was also discussed.
The participants actively interacted during the sessions and appreciated the efforts of J&K Police for conducting such awareness programmes and for taking proactive steps towards building a drug free society.
