On the annual Menstrual Hygiene Day, social activist Irfana Zargar organized an awareness campaign in the Nishat Garden of Srinagar.
A number of women including female tourists participated in the program.
Irfana Zargar also known as ‘Pad woman of Kashmir’ has been creating awareness about menstrual hygiene. She distributed free pads to the women visiting the Nishat garden.
Irfana Zargar said that there has been negative impacts on girls’ and women’ ability to effectively manage their menstrual hygiene and health. They had to face several issues to deal with their menstrual cycle in a dignified manner, especially girls belonging to poor economic backgrounds, like limited access to sanitary pads, sanitation facilities, and social support.
“I have started this awareness program so that girls and women come to know about Menstrual Hygiene,” she said.
