
Ayurveda Day was today celebrated at the AYUSH Health & Wellness Centre, Kenihama, Budgam with a series of activities held under the guidance of District AYUSH Officer Budgam, Dr. Firdous Malik. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Ayurveda for People & Planet.”
On the occasion, Medical Officer, Dr. Nusrat Bashir, highlighted the importance of Ayurveda, stating that it is not just a system of healthcare but a complete science of life, based on the principle of harmony between the individual and the environment. She said that the observance of Ayurveda Day reflects the collective resolve to harness the full potential of Ayurveda for global wellbeing and a healthier planet.
As part of the programme, lectures were delivered on the role of Ayurveda in healthy living and disease management. Free medical check-ups were conducted for the needy and disease-specific medicines were distributed among the patients. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material was also disseminated for creating public awareness regarding preventive and promotive healthcare practices.
An awareness lecture on Yoga was also organised, highlighting its significance for overall physical and mental well-being. Besides, Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening of individuals was undertaken, while special focus was laid on anemia screening of the needy.
