
The Department of Dermatology, GMC Baramulla, organized a one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Psoriasis and Its Comorbidities” under the patronage of Principal Prof. Dr. Majid Jahangir. Guests of Honour included Prof. Dr. Seema Qayoom, HOD Dermatology, SKIMS Medical College Bemina, and Prof. Dr. Sheikh Manzoor, Former HOD Dermatology, SKIMS Bemina.
The event commenced with a formal address by the Principal, followed by speeches from the Medical Superintendent and the Guests of Honour, highlighting the significance of understanding psoriasis, its management, and the burden it places on healthcare systems. The inaugural ceremony featured the traditional Izband Sozi and was attended by faculty and dignitaries.
Academic sessions included expert presentations from Dr. Parvaiz Anwar, HOD Dermatology, GMC Baramulla, and other distinguished dermatologists from across the valley. Topics covered included:
Targeted therapy and biologics in psoriasis
Psoriasis across different age groups
Multidisciplinary perspectives: musculoskeletal comorbidities (Orthopaedics), psychosocial burden (Psychiatry), tuberculosis associations (Chest Medicine), psoriasis in pregnancy, and public health perspectives (Community Medicine)
The CME also featured panel discussions, a PG quiz to engage residents, and interactive academic exchanges. The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony and vote of thanks, led by Dr. Parvaiz Anwar (Organising Chairperson) and Dr. Peerzada Sajad (Organising Secretary), who expressed gratitude to all participants and dignitaries.
The CME was accredited with 4 credit points, adding academic recognition and value to the event.
