Police during night hours recovered a rusted grenade at Zogiyar area falling under Police Station Sheeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.

The explosive device was detected by Sheeri police during routine surveillance, following which the area was immediately secured to prevent any harm to locals.
A Bomb Disposal Squad from Baramulla was called to the spot, which safely defused the grenade without any damage or casualties.
Police said the timely action averted a potential threat to life and property.
Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the explosive and how it reached the area, officials added.
