Bla DC calls for stronger red cross network

Baramulla, Sep17: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, S.F. Hamid, today chaired a meeting of the Red Cross Society Baramulla to review its ongoing activities and deliberate upon measures for strengthening its welfare interventions across the district.

At the outset, the meeting held detailed discussions on various measures aimed at revitalising the activities of the Red Cross Society and expanding its outreach to vulnerable sections of society.
Key areas deliberated upon included resource mobilisation, volunteer registration and training, fund generation, emergency response, capacity building and strengthening community participation.
The DC stressed the need for making the Red Cross Society Baramulla a more vibrant and responsive humanitarian institution at the grassroots level.
He called for exploring sustainable mechanisms for resource and fund generation so that the Society can undertake welfare activities in a more systematic and effective manner.
Emphasising the importance of a strong volunteer network, the DC directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan for mass volunteer registration and their training.
Meanwhile, the DC directed for establishment of a dedicated volunteer training centre and office of the Red Cross Society in Baramulla, aimed at providing structured training to volunteers in areas such as first aid, emergency response, disaster management, relief distribution and other humanitarian services.
He stressed that regular training and capacity building of volunteers would enhance their ability to respond effectively during crises.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Pranjal Hazarika, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Altaf Hussain Musvi, SDM Uri Prince Kumar, besides concerned district officers.
