The town witnessed its first-ever Zoon Run – Spirit of Baramulla, a 10-km and 5-km run organized by the Baramulla Runners Club.
“The event, flagged off from Saint Joseph’s Higher Secondary School drew nearly 150 participants from different age groups across Jammu, Srinagar, Sopore, Ganderbal, Budgam, and Baramulla districts,” the organisers said.
The run was formally flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa and Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Zone, Maqsood Ul Zaman.
The winner of the 5km run completed the race in 17 minutes, whereas the 10 km run winner completed it in 43 minutes.

Speaking at the event, DIG Zaman stressed the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being in today’s fast-paced and stressful times.
"Such initiatives are not just about sports; they are about building healthier, stronger communities,” he said.
“Events like the Zoon Run encourage people, especially the youth, to adopt fitness as a way of life. Regular exercise is essential for managing stress. I must commend the Baramulla Runners Club for taking this step and bringing together people from across the Valley under one banner of health and unity,” he added.
The participants said the event was marked by meticulous planning, seamless execution, and wholehearted dedication.
“This made the run not only memorable but also truly inspiring for all participants,” Imtiyaz Ahmed, a participant said.
Chandeep Singh, one of the organisers of the event announced that the run would be an annual event.
