Bla’s 12-year-old Zainab shines in sports

Baramulla, Jan 27 In a society where young girls are often discouraged from pursuing competitive sports, Zainab Amin, a 12-year-old student of Aarifeen School of Excellence, is quietly rewriting the narrative with courage, discipline, and an extraordinary medal tally. Beginning her sporting journey at the tender age
of 8 , Zainab has already established herself as a formidable presence in the sporting arena. A national-level athlete, Zainab has represented herself in multiple
disciplines including Wushu Championships, Taekwondo, Yoga, and Cestoball, demonstrating rare versatility at such a young age. She is a certified Yellow Belt in Taekwondo and has secured first position in the 60- metre race under the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Athletics Association, achievements that place her among the most promising young athletes of the region.
Zainab’s journey began in Class 2, when she was just eight years old. Her very first competitive appearance led to her selection at the district level, where she went on to win a gold medal at the District Wushu Championship, Baramulla, in 2022. The victory proved to be a turning point, instilling confidence and igniting a deep commitment towards sports. Her rise continued unabated. In 2023, she once again clinched gold at the District Wushu Championship, affirming her growing dominance in the sport. Today, at only 12 years of age, Zainab boasts an impressive record of seven gold medals and five silver medals, a feat many athletes achieve only after years of training.
Beyond medals and titles, Zainab Amin represents a powerful shift in mindset. Her journey stands as a testament to women’s empowerment,proving that with opportunity, encouragement, and perseverance, young girls can excel and lead in arenas traditionally dominated by men.
