Border tourism at Kaman Post grows

April 12, 2026 | Shugufta Rashid / Nisar Malik

Uri, April 11: Kerala tourists visiting Kashmir are increasingly exploring border tourism sites near the Line of Control (LoC), with Kaman Post emerging as a key attraction.

Visitors, including families with children, were seen taking photographs and selfies at the historic site, which lies close to the India–Pakistan border. The location, known for its scenic views of the Uri sector, has become a popular stop for tourists seeking to experience the region’s unique geography and history.
Kaman Post, often referred to as the “Bridge of Friendship,” allows visitors to witness the old Aman Setu (peace bridge) area, symbolising past efforts at cross-border connectivity.
Tourists said the experience of standing near the LoC was both memorable and emotional, offering a rare glimpse into a sensitive and strategic border zone that also carries historical significance.
Officials and tour operators noted that border tourism is gradually gaining popularity in the region, adding a new dimension to Kashmir’s tourism landscape beyond traditional destinations.
