Srinagar, Sep 7::A search operation is underway in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district after a boy and a girl reportedly jumped into a power canal in the Thune area of Kangan.

Officials that the police received information about the incident and immediately rushed to the spot. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to trace the two persons.
Local residents also gathered at the site and are assisting the rescue teams. The water level and strong current in the canal are posing a challenge to the operation.
Police said efforts are on to trace the duo and ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident. Their identities are yet to be confirmed.
