Muzaffarpur, Nov 28: Preparations for the East Zone Inter-University Volleyball (Men) Championship, being hosted under the aegis of B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU), have reached their final stage. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to be held from December 10 to 14 at the Tirhut College of Physical Education in Jhapaha, Muzaffarpur, and will witness the participation of teams from 53 universities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai personally toured the venue to conduct a meticulous inspection of all arrangements. Prof. Rai reviewed every aspect of the setup, stating, "We want to ensure that this event adheres to national-level standards. No participating team should have any cause for complaint. This championship is a matter of great pride not just for BRABU but for the whole of Bihar."
VC Prof. Rai expressed satisfaction over the "historic improvement" in the university's sports culture. The university's sports culture has improved significantly, he noted. Last year, BRABU hosted the East Zone tournament after a long gap of nearly two decades, and it is the second consecutive year that we have been given the opportunity to host such a large-scale inter-university event.
Lauding the policies promoting sports, Prof. Rai highlighted the national achievements. "Today, the country's athletes are excelling on the international stage across all sports. In Bihar, incentive schemes like 'Medal Lao, Naukri Pao' (Win a Medal, Get a Job) and the successful organization of events like the Asia Cup have rapidly attracted youth towards sports." He attributed this success to BRABU’s commitment to the inspirational policies of the Government of India, such as 'Khelo India' and 'Fit India,' alongside the sports promotion policies of the Bihar government.
The 53 university teams, comprising approximately 750 participants, are expected to arrive in Muzaffarpur on December 9. Final arrangements for their lodging, meals, and practice facilities have been put in place.
Also present during the visit were Proctor Prof. B.S. Rai, Registrar Prof. Sameer Kumar Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Sinha, Dr. Ashok Kumar Sah, Dr. Naveen Kumar, Dr. Manish Kumar, Mahendra Prasad, and Ravishankar Kumar, among others.
