Patna, Dec 14: BR Ambedkar Bihar University is celebrating a significant dual victory: the successful hosting of the prestigious East Zone Inter-University Championship for the second consecutive year, and the historic qualification of its Men's Volleyball team into the Super League. The university's excellent organizational skills led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai in managing the event drew widespread praise from participating institutions.
The team's stellar performance, which secured a Super League spot, marks the first time BRABU has reached this elite level since 1985, ending a four-decade gap. In the championship itself, KIIT Bhubaneswar emerged victorious, with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith as the runner-up, and BRABU proudly securing its place among the top four teams. This achievement is widely credited to the focused sports development initiatives implemented by the current administration, specifically the crucial support from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai.
In the trophy distributiin ceremony, Prof. Rai emphasized that successfully hosting the event proves BRABU's commitment to promotion of sports infrastructure and efficient administration, while the team's historic qualification is a result of the students' commitment and sustained hard work. The grand finale's award distribution ceremony was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, with Shri Rakesh Kumar, DIG of CRPF Muzaffarpur, attending as the Chief Guest, where they presented medals and trophies to the deserving teams.
Prof. Rai further said that the team's Super League qualification ensures their eligibility to compete in the All India Inter-University and Khelo India University Games scheduled for the following year, cementing BRABU's return to the national collegiate sports stage. Prof. Rai extended his gratitude to all stakeholders—including the organizing committee, participating teams, coaches, and students—for their support and discipline, reiterating the university's commitment to the continuous promotion and upliftment of sports.
