Muzaffarpur, Jan 1: Marking a historic milestone, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) officially stepped into its 75th year on Friday. Presiding over the 74th Foundation Day celebrations, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai announced a year-long "Academic Celebration" aimed at transforming the university into a premier global knowledge center by its Platinum Jubilee in 2027.
“It is a matter of profound pride for all of us to be associated with this historical university as it touches the 75-year mark,” Prof. Rai said in his presidential address. He emphasized that the focus for the entire year will remain on high-impact research and institutional excellence to ensure BRABU is counted among the nation's elite knowledge hubs.
Addressing the academic health of the institution, Prof. Rai noted that while research has improved, the process of granting PhDs still needs to be examined properly to maintain rigorous standards. He announced that NET and JRF scholars will be prioritized in the research ecosystem to promote a culture of elite scholarship.
VC Prof. Rai also extended high appreciation for the flawless conduct and timely result declaration of the Ph.D. Admission Tests (PAT 2023 and 2024), citing this efficiency as a model for the university’s administrative rejuvenation.
Prof. Rai made it clear that securing a top-tier NAAC accreditation and a competitive NIRF ranking are the administration's absolute priorities. However, he coupled this vision with a stern warning against a "culture of extravagance," insisting that resources be redirected from ceremonial expenses toward core academic infrastructure and research outcomes.
"Our success will not be measured by the scale of our celebrations, but by the tangible outcomes of our research. We must move beyond superficiality to achieve real substance," Prof. Rai stated.
As part of the "Roadmap to 75," the university plans to maximize the potential of MoUs already signed with leading national and international institutions. The goal is to facilitate international symposiums
The event was attended by faculty and staff members, university officials including. proctor Prof. BS Rai, DSW Prof. Alok Pratap, Examination Controller Prof. Ram Kumar, IQAC head Prof. Navrdul Haque, Prof. Pramod Kumar, Prof. Lalan Jha, Dr. Anuradha Pathak, Dr. Amar Shukla, Dr. Navin Kumar among others.
