Budgam police host youth sports tournaments

Budgam, Feb 21: In an initiative to promote teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among youth, Police in Budgam organized Kho-Kho (for girls) and Kabaddi (for boys) tournaments under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26 at Sports Stadium Trappy Khag. The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various schools, particularly from far-flung areas of Khag.

The programme was attended by SDPO Magam Shri Mohd Ashrif-JKPS and SHO Khag, who appreciated the dedication, talent, and competitive spirit displayed by the young participants. While addressing the gathering, they highlighted the vital role of sports in nurturing discipline, teamwork, leadership qualities, and a healthy lifestyle among youth.
The tournaments culminated in thrilling final matches. The winning and runner-up teams were felicitated with cash prizes and trophies in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The events were widely appreciated by local residents, who lauded J&K Police for encouraging youth—especially young girls—to actively participate in sports and constructive activities. The initiative was viewed as a significant step towards empowering youth from remote areas and providing them with a platform to showcase their talent.
