Captain Smit Machchhar praised after saving 174 lives aboard flydubai flight

New Delhi, October 2: Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar has received widespread praise for his courage and presence of mind after a serious emergency unfolded aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073, which was carrying 174 passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

According to reports, Captain Machchhar was attacked and seriously injured by his co-pilot inside the cockpit during the flight. Despite his injuries, he managed to open the cockpit door, allowing cabin crew and passengers to intervene and bring the situation under control.

The aircraft was diverted from its original route and subsequently landed safely in Saudi Arabia. All 174 people on board survived the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Captain Machchhar for his courage, presence of mind and determination during the emergency. Speaking with the pilot, Modi said the nation was proud of him and acknowledged his role in helping prevent a major tragedy.

Captain Machchhar is recovering from his injuries following the incident. The circumstances surrounding the cockpit attack are being investigated by the authorities.
