A woman was killed and a 10-year-old boy was injured when unidentified terrorists opened fire at them in central Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials said a TV artist and her nephew were injured when militants fired upon them in Hishroo area of Chadoora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
A senior police officer said that militants fired upon Ambreen, an artist who plays role in TV dramas, and her 10 -year -old nephew outside their home in Hishroo village of Chadoora.
Both of them were immediately removed to hospital, the officer said. The condition of Ambreen was stated to be critical and she later succumbed to injuries. However, her nephew has bullet injury in arm and is stated to be stable. Meanwhile entire area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
Earlier in the day, three terrorists were gunned down while a Special Police Officer of J&K Police was martyred in a gun battle in north Kashmir.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar said security forces shot dead three Pakistani terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad in a 'chance' encounter in Baramulla district.
He said a Special Police Officer, Mudassir Ahmad, who was a member of an elite police unit, was also killed in the encounter. IG Kumar said that the gunfight broke out at Najibhat Kreeri area at a checkpoint laid by the security forces.
