
Jammu, Mar 29: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a comprehensive review with health experts to assess progress in upgrading newly established medical colleges and district hospitals across Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting included senior officials from AIIMS Jammu, SKIMS, Government Medical Colleges, SMVDIME, and the National Health Mission.
The Chief Secretary emphasized strengthening these institutions to ensure equitable access to tertiary care, focusing initially on six key specialties: Trauma & Emergency, Critical Care (ICU/HDU/CCU), Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, and Oncology. He urged coordination with premier institutions for knowledge sharing and technical support.
He also highlighted technology-driven solutions, including Tele-ICU and Tele-Radiology, and stressed expanding MBBS, postgraduate, and super-specialty seats to build a robust healthcare workforce.
Officials presented progress on infrastructure, specialty services, and critical care operationalization. Former AIIMS Jammu Director Prof. Shakti Kumar Gupta and SKIMS Director Prof. Ashraf Ganai underlined teaching, research, patient care, and inter-institutional collaboration. Plans include virtual medical boards, referral committees, and research consortia to streamline patient care and research across J&K.
