Chinar Corps Felicitates Young Achievers

April 09, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

In a significant initiative to bolster innovation, sports, and academic excellence within the region, the Chinar Corps hosted a prestigious Inauguration-cum-Felicitation Ceremony today at Badami Bagh Cantonment.

Aligning with the GOC-in-C’s vision, the Chinar Corps has remained a frontrunner in elevating educational standards across the Valley through its network of 28 Army Goodwill Schools (AGS). These institutions prioritize a holistic approach to development, moving beyond traditional academics to emphasize Science, Innovation, Sports, and Co-curricular activities. Successes in flagship events such as ‘Innofest’ and various inter-AGS competitions have been instrumental in identifying bright young talents. This proactive leadership from Management Committees, Principals and teachers has already garnered national recognition to Schools & its students, including ARISE Excellence Award, the Young Scientist Award, ISRO International Astronomy Competitions and the ISRO Yuvika Award.

Highlighting the importance of these achievements, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C Northern Command, and Mrs. Shinei Sharma, Regional President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Northern Command, graced the occasion. They were joined by senior officers and members of the Chinar Corps to honor the students, their dedicated teachers, and proud parents.

The Army Commander felicitated innovative projects conceived by Miss Faika Farheen, AGS Butkot & Miss Fiza Fayaz, AGS Bandipora. The two young innovators recognised for demonstrating exceptional technical skills. Their projects have set a new benchmark for innovative excellence among students across the state. The project has been successfully implemented in Badami Bagh Cantonment.

Complementing these technical milestones, the Regional President AWWA felicitated eight outstanding achievers from the 15 Corps Zone for their brilliance in sports and academics. Their success serves as a powerful testament to how a supportive school environment can positively transform an entire educational ecosystem.

The event concluded with an interactive session between the Chief Guests and the attendees. This exchange further inspired the students, teachers, and parents, reinforcing a shared commitment to regional development and empowerment through the transformative power of education.
