
In a historic celebration of sports, unity, and youth empowerment, the Chinar Premier League (CPL) 2025 was officially inaugurated today at the Bipin Rawat Stadium, Baramulla.
The grand ceremony was graced by the presence of senior officials including the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 19 Infantry Division Baramulla, DIG Jammu & Kashmir Police (North Kashmir Range), DIG BSF, DIG CRPF, and several dignitaries and officers from District Administration Baramulla.
This year marks the 11th edition of the CPL, organized by the Indian Army, featuring 64 teams from across the Kashmir Valley. The tournament aims to channelize youth energy through sports and foster a spirit of camaraderie and discipline.
The opening match was played between BCC Reds and Karnah Tigers, a team representing the last village of India, symbolizing the deep grassroots outreach of the league.
Speaking after the match, Zubair Dar, captain of BCC Reds, thanked the Indian Army for launching this unique initiative and said, “We can proudly say this is Kashmir’s own IPL. It’s a golden opportunity for local talent.”
To enhance the viewing experience, multiple high-definition cameras have been installed across both venues, and live streaming of matches on various social media platforms officially began today, enabling fans from across the Valley and beyond to tune in and enjoy the games.
A huge crowd of enthusiastic local spectators gathered to witness the opening ceremony and the first match, reflecting the strong community engagement and support for the CPL.
Matches will be played at both Bipin Rawat Stadium and Showkat Ali (College Ground) Stadium Khawjabagh, Baramulla.
