Suspected terrorists on Monday evening shot dead a civilian identified as Deepu of Udhampur near Janglat Mandi in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Police in a tweet said that militants fired upon one civilian namely Deepu of Udhampur, working at private circus mela at amusement park, near Janglaat Mandi in Anantnag. “He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” police said, adding, “a case registered and investigation going on.”
Meanwhile, police, army and CRPF on Monday carried out a search operation in a village in Poonch district following a tip-off about the movement of some suspicious persons, officials said.
Security forces are on high alert in Poonch and nearby Rajouri districts following three separate attacks that left 10 soldiers and seven civilians dead since January.
