CJI Surya Kant visits Leh to strengthen judiciary

Leh, Mar 27: Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, arrived in Leh on Friday for an official visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh. He was warmly received by Lieutenant Governor Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh Justice Arun Palli, other judges, and senior officials.

The visit began with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and a traditional welcome highlighting Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage. Justice Surya Kant interacted with the Lieutenant Governor, judges, and district officials, emphasizing the importance of accessible justice.

During the visit, he will inaugurate the newly constructed District Court Complexes at Leh and Kargil, along with the office of the Ladakh Legal Services Authority, providing modern facilities to enhance legal access. A Legal Services Camp and Awareness Programme is also scheduled to promote legal literacy among the local population.

The visit highlights efforts to strengthen judicial infrastructure and ensure inclusive justice delivery in Ladakh’s remote regions. Senior dignitaries, including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, General Officer Commanding 14 Corps, and officers from civil administration, judiciary, Army, and police, attended the reception.
