Srinagar, Sep 1: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday reviewed preparations for the upcoming First International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) during a series of meetings with senior officials, newly inducted IAS officers, security representatives and an Ernst & Young (E&Y) delegation at the Civil Secretariat here.
Commissioner Secretary, Information and Planning Department, R. Alice Vaz, briefed the Chief Minister on arrangements for the IFFJK, scheduled from September 7 to 10, 2026.
Omar stressed the need for seamless coordination among all concerned departments and agencies to ensure the successful conduct of the international event. He directed officials to maintain close coordination and ensure effective arrangements relating to logistics, public facilities, security and other essential requirements.
The festival is expected to provide a major platform for filmmakers, artists and cinema enthusiasts while showcasing Jammu & Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and emerging creative potential.
A group of newly inducted IAS officers—including Babila Rakhwal, Shabnam Shah Kamili, Rachna Sharma, Leena Padha, Rajinder Singh Tara, Munir ul Islam, Sajjad Hussain Gani, Anoo Malhotra, Nitu Gupta, Prediman Krishan Bhat, Bhawani Rakhwal and Anuradha Gupta—also called on the Chief Minister.
Congratulating them on their induction into the Indian Administrative Service, Omar Abdullah wished the officers a successful tenure and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and public service.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Sujit Kumar, separately met the Chief Minister following his recent assumption of charge. Omar extended his best wishes to him and discussed the prevailing security and policing environment in Kashmir.
The Chief Minister also met E&Y Managing Director Amit Khandelwal and Regional Head Navreet Singh. The delegation briefed him about the firm's ongoing work and engagements in Jammu & Kashmir.
The day's engagements highlighted the administration's focus on coordinated governance, security preparedness, investment and the promotion of J&K as a destination for cultural and creative activities.
