CS Dulloo reviews affordable housing projects in Jammu

Jammu, Jan 15: The Chief Secretary chaired a meeting to review the progress and future roadmap of housing colonies being developed by the Jammu & Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB), Jammu Development Authority (JDA), and Srinagar Development Authority (SDA).

The review focused on ongoing, proposed, and planned projects, emphasizing sustainable development, affordability, and timely execution through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and Self-Financing Schemes (SFS) across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
The Chief Secretary highlighted rising land prices and limited urban space, stressing the need for planned housing colonies to ensure home ownership for middle- and lower-income groups. He underscored coordinated multi-agency efforts, PPP frameworks, vertical development, and quality construction as essential for accessible and sustainable housing.
Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD Mandeep Kaur noted that government-led housing projects prevent urban sprawl, reduce infrastructure pressure, and ensure equitable access to services. MD, JK Housing Board Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza shared updates on new colonies under PPP and SFS in locations including Birpur, Padgampora, Watapora, Chowadi, Changran, Chatterhama, Chak Bhalwal, Bakoora, and Bhalwal, featuring residential units with modern amenities.
VC JDA Rupesh Kumar highlighted 75% progress on JDA Heights Phase-II at Lower Roop Nagar and ongoing improvements at Transport Nagar, Narwal. VC SDA Mohammad Rafi updated on Shehjar Heights Phase-II at Bemina and the Rakhi Gund Aksha Satellite Township, spread over 2,950 kanals, to be developed in phases with NBCC as the executing agency.
CEO, CiTAG, detailed facilitation of PPP-based housing projects, including DPR preparation, site visits, and bundling land parcels to attract national developers and ensure inclusion of EWS housing.
The Chief Secretary stressed time-bound execution, quality construction, and affordability, directing all agencies to work in coordination to deliver tangible benefits to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
