
Chief Secretary Atal Duloo today visited the mini-township Jagti Nagrota to inspect ongoing development works and inaugurate key projects aimed at improving infrastructure and public services for the migrant community.
During his visit, he inspected the Sub-District Hospital, Government Higher Secondary School, and the under-construction multi-purpose community hall, estimated at Rs 6.5 crore. He also inaugurated five bore wells and visited the NFSA integration centre to assess digitization and service delivery.
The Chief Secretary distributed sanction orders under various social security schemes, including Old Age, Widow, and Disability Pensions, to around 125 migrant beneficiaries. Additionally, allotment orders were handed over for 48 government shops and 12 residential quarters. Meritorious girl students of the Government Higher Secondary School were felicitated, and digital ration cards were distributed. Regularization orders for select School Education Department employees were also issued.
Accompanying the Chief Secretary were senior officials, including Commissioner Secretaries Saurav Bhagat and Sarmad Hafeez, IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, Commissioner Dr. Arvind Karwani, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas, and other department heads. A large gathering of migrants from Nagrota, Purkhoo, and Muthi camps attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary highlighted the historic significance of integrating migrants into social sector schemes through digitized ration cards linked to the national database. He urged migrant beneficiaries to actively avail themselves of government schemes and directed departments to ensure budget provisions for the operation and maintenance of services in migrant camps.
He also instructed the Science and Technology Department to install solar lighting in the mini-township and directed the Public Works Department to complete ongoing repair and renovation works within timelines while maintaining quality standards.
Emphasizing youth empowerment, he encouraged migrant youth to benefit from self-employment and entrepreneurship schemes under the Mission Youth initiative, with the Employment Department tasked with creating awareness. The Chief Secretary also called on the Culture Department to develop plans to utilize the upcoming community hall to showcase Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and noted ongoing renovation of religious places for the migrant community in the Valley.
Earlier, Dr. Arvind Karwani presented a detailed overview of the Relief Organization’s initiatives, including infrastructure upkeep, repair and renovation projects, playground development, integration with social security schemes, digitization of migrant records, and outreach for Ayushman Bharat and other welfare programs.
