
Srinagar, June 1: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Sunday reviewed the availability and stock position of essential commodities across Jammu and Kashmir, with special focus on petroleum products, LPG, fertilizers and other critical supplies ahead of the peak tourism season and the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The meeting was attended by senior civil administration officials, divisional commissioners, representatives of oil marketing companies, and district officers through video conferencing.
The Chief Secretary directed departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities across the Union Territory and stressed strict monitoring to prevent diversion of domestic LPG for commercial use.
He also emphasized the completion of e-KYC for all eligible beneficiaries to ensure uninterrupted subsidy benefits and called for extensive awareness campaigns to educate consumers about the process.
Dulloo instructed district administrations to regularly assess stock positions in hospitals, residential institutions and other critical establishments, while also ensuring adequate supplies for migratory labourers working across Jammu and Kashmir.
Reviewing fertilizer availability, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Production Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma informed that adequate stocks were available and distributed rationally across districts. He urged administrations to promote the ongoing Khet Bachao Abhiyan, aimed at encouraging balanced fertilizer use, organic farming and improved soil health.
Commissioner Secretary Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Saurabh Bhagat informed the meeting that prices of 40 monitored essential commodities remained largely stable across districts and that enforcement drives against profiteering and overcharging were continuing.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar reported sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, LPG, kerosene and aviation fuel, with additional supplies already in transit. He said commercial LPG supplies remained stable and demand from hospitality and industrial sectors was being adequately met.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg informed that petrol, diesel and LPG stocks across the Valley were sufficient to meet current demand, with no reports of shortages or supply disruptions.
The meeting was also informed that adequate commercial LPG arrangements have been made at major tourist destinations, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Srinagar, and no shortages have been reported by the hospitality sector.
