CS Dulloo reviews traffic management plans for twin capitals

February 05, 2026 | BK News Service

Jammu, Feb 4: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a meeting of the Multi-Disciplinary Committee (MDC) to review traffic management plans for Jammu and Srinagar, focusing on easing congestion, enhancing road safety, and improving urban mobility.

The meeting included senior officials from Home, Housing & Urban Development, Tourism, Public Works, Transport, Traffic Police, Municipal Corporations, and development authorities.
Dulloo directed departments to begin ground-level implementation of approved projects following finalization of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and completion of statutory requirements. He emphasized issuing necessary notifications, amending rules, and public awareness campaigns on traffic routes, no-parking zones, and no-honking areas.
The comprehensive plan includes strengthening Intelligent Traffic Management Systems (ITMS), developing rotaries and junctions, integrating traffic monitoring with Integrated Command and Control Centres (ICCCs), enforcing lane discipline, and using e-challans, license cancellations, and other regulatory measures.
Additional measures cover decongestion strategies, pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, IT-enabled parking, road safety initiatives, shikara and water transport management, and enhanced inter-departmental coordination. All projects will be mapped on the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) platform for effective monitoring.
The MDC aims to ensure sustainable, efficient, and safer urban transport in the twin capitals while improving overall traffic governance.
