
The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) celebrated the conclusion of the fortnight-long “Swachhata Hi Seva 2025” campaign with a special programme, “Swachhata Divas,” at its Tulmulla Campus under the nationwide Seva Parv-2025 initiative. The event was jointly organised by the Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) and the National Service Scheme (NSS), with participation from faculty, students, and scholars across the university.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath praised students for their active engagement in the diverse activities conducted during the campaign, highlighting how such initiatives foster camaraderie, discipline, ethical values, and a sense of responsibility towards nation-building. He emphasized aligning Swachhata campaigns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advocating for waste-segregating dustbins and reduced plastic use across campuses. Winners of competitions held during the campaign were felicitated for their contributions.
Dean of Legal Studies, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy, stressing that cleanliness extends beyond physical spaces to thoughts, actions, and governance. Dean of Life Sciences, Prof. Abid Hamid Dar, linked cleanliness with India’s development goals, urging students to play an active role in achieving a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The programme also featured speeches by Dean Students Welfare Prof. Irfan Aalam and NSS Coordinator Dr. Shabir Ahmad, who detailed the extensive activities undertaken during the campaign, including cleanliness drives, awareness rallies, digital hygiene workshops, plantation drives, debates, and cultural events.
The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. Himabindu (Asst Prof, Deptt of Politics and Governance), while Dr. Harpal Singh (Asst Prof, Deptt of Religious Studies) proposed the vote of thanks.
