
Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath Wednesday kick-started the “Swachhata Hi Seva 2025” campaign with a cleanliness drive at Green Campus.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, led the faculty members, students, and staff while inaugurating the nationwide campaign, reaffirming the pledge towards cleanliness. The initiative, “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata” (Cleanliness in Nature and Values), is being organised by the Dean Students Welfare (DSW) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) of the University.
A series of activities will be carried out across different campuses from September 17 to October 2, 2025, in line with the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission and “Swachhotsav” movement.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ravinder Nath said the campaign is not merely a drive to clean surroundings, but an effort to inculcate deeper values of responsibility, hygiene, and respect for cultural traditions among the younger generation. He called upon students and faculty to actively participate in all the scheduled events, stating that “cleanliness is not just a physical act but a reflection of one’s character and commitment towards the community.”
On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor also extended hearty congratulations to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on his 75th birthday. “I wholeheartedly congratulate our respected Prime Minister on his birthday. On behalf of the CUK fraternity, I wish him good health and continued success in guiding the nation towards greater heights,” Prof. A Ravinder Nath remarked.
Registrar, Prof. Nisar Ahmad Mir, conveyed his best wishes to the organisers, applauding the DSW and NSS for planning a series of events that blend cleanliness drives with awareness campaigns, workshops, cultural activities, and health initiatives.
Dean DSW, Prof. Irfan Aalam, said that such programmes play a vital role in aligning university youth with the national vision of a clean and sustainable India.
The cleanliness drive was also held at Nunar campus which was led by Director Campus and Dean School of Life Sciences, Prof. Abid Hamid who highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in sustaining cleanliness and hygiene in society.
DSW Nodal Officers, faculty members, scholars and students participated in the drive at both the campuses. During the drives, students and NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in cleaning the premises, collecting waste, and spreading awareness about sanitation practices.
