
Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Wednesday inaugurated the Interdepartmental Football Tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. A Ravinder Nath encouraged the students to participate actively in sports alongside academics, emphasizing that games and physical activities play a vital role in developing discipline, teamwork, and leadership qualities. He appreciated the efforts of the Deptt of Physical Education for organizing the event and fostering a culture of fitness and healthy competition on the campus.
Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, in his address, appreciated the CUKashmir for promoting sports culture and physical well-being among students and staff. He highlighted the importance of sports in building character, teamwork, and resilience, encouraging students to maintain a balance between academics and extracurricular pursuits.
Dr. Kaukab Azeem, HoD, Deptt of Physical Education, Dr. Shabir- NSS Coordinator, senior faculty members, and students were present.
The opening match was played between the Departments of Law and Information Technology. The first half concluded goalless, while in the second half both teams netted one goal each. The match was eventually decided through a penalty shootout, in which the Law Deptt emerged victorious.
The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. M Muzamil Shah, Asst Prof.
2 KM WALK ORGANIZED
The Deptt of Physical Education, under the ongoing Interdepartmental Tournaments and Swachhotsav campaign, organized a 2 kilometer walk for girl students and female staff of the CUKashmir. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, health awareness, and the importance of an active lifestyle among women.
The function was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, and Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Both Vice-Chancellors. appreciated the initiative of the Department and NSS for encouraging participation of women in fitness-related activities and highlighted the significance of regular exercise for overall well-being. Dr. Kaukab Azeem, Dr. Shabir, faculty members, and students were present.
