Cultural Performance: Bhand Pather show held in Gojipathri school

Chadoora, April 21: The hall of Government Higher Secondary School Gojipathri, Chadoora, came alive with excitement during a traditional Bhand Pather performance titled “Darzi Paether.” The show was presented by the Valley Folk Theatre Hanjigund Wathoora under the Cultural Function & Production Grant Scheme supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Bhand Pather is a traditional satirical folk theatre form of Jammu and Kashmir that blends acting, music, and dance to highlight social issues through humor. The performance featured classic elements like Maskharas (jesters) and a leader known as the Magun.
The event was attended by Principal Mehraj Ud Din Paul as the Chief Guest, while Shahjahan Ahmad Bhagat, Chairman of the All Kashmir Folk Artists Association, was the Guest of Honour.
Fayaz Ahmad Rather, Secretary of Valley Folk Theatre, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture for its support and thanked the guests, school authorities, and participants for contributing to the program’s success.
