Jammu, Jan 24: The J&K Administration’s Daksh Kisan, a first-of-its-kind digital Learning Management System (LMS) for farmers, has transformed smartphones from mere communication tools into instruments of learning. Launched under the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan campaign, the platform aims to upgrade the knowledge and skills of farmers across the Union Territory.
Designed in collaboration with SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir, Daksh Kisan offers 171 courses across agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and allied sectors. Courses are agro-climatically tailored and available in four local languages—Kashmiri, Dogri, Hindi, and Urdu. Each course combines expert video lectures, practical demonstrations, and assessments, with opportunities for farmers to interact digitally with faculty for guidance.
The platform also integrates business and financial planning modules, encouraging farmers to adopt enterprise-driven practices and enhance economic sustainability. Since its launch, over 3.47 lakh farmers have registered, with more than 4.15 lakh course enrollments and nearly 2.98 lakh courses completed, reflecting strong engagement.
The initiative has gained recognition beyond J&K, with participants from other Indian states enrolling in courses, highlighting Daksh Kisan’s scalability and national relevance. Officials note that the platform complements traditional agricultural extension by providing 24/7 on-demand learning, empowering farmers to make informed decisions amid climate, market, and input challenges.
Daksh Kisan continues to expand, with new courses and advanced modules in development, establishing itself as a model for digital agricultural education in India.
