During a recent visit to Noora Hospital with a friend, I witnessed a heartwarming scene that reminded me of the unique bond between fathers and daughters. While waiting for my turn, I noticed an elderly man holding a phone, displaying pictures of cars sent by his daughter. “Which should we buy?” she asked. The man replied, with tearful eyes, “I have passed my days; you decide.” He explained she often sends him pictures of beautiful houses too, simply to bring him joy.
Asked about his love for her, he recited a heartfelt poem, tears streaming:
"Mujai itna pyar na do Baba… Kal is pa shikan ajeeb na ho… Main jab bi roati hoon Baba, tum aansoon poancha kartai ho."
The raw emotion was moving, a father’s deep love and worry intertwined with pride and tenderness.
At that moment, my own phone lit up with a message from my daughter:
"Papa, my dear papa, apki turn aayee. Main nai apke liye apka favourite dish tayar kya hai…Aur haan cigarette ko touch be mat karna. Apko meri kasam."
It reminded me how daughters possess a unique ability to soothe anxiety, uplift spirits, and bring life to weary hearts—especially vital for those at risk of cardiovascular ailments. Research shows that chronic anxiety affects heart health, making emotional support all the more crucial.
Another patient nearby shared a video of his four-year-old daughter singing to him:
"Papa meri jan hardam rakhna, haathon mein merai haath."
The waiting room was filled with smiles and a sense of calm, a quiet testament to the healing power of daughters. Most cardiovascular patients were accompanied by their daughters, while others stayed connected via phone.
When it was my turn, the doctor prescribed medicines. On leaving, I exchanged numbers with the elderly men, jokingly promising to call their daughters about their fathers’ smoking habits. Walking out, I felt a profound appreciation for daughters—the real gems who rejuvenate hearts, ease anxiety, and bring joy beyond measure.
