In order to commemorate the concept of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and to conceptualise the idea of ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’, a daylong farmers and growers conference was today organised by Area Marketing Office, Directorate of Horticulture Planning and Marketing at Fruit Mandi, here
The Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr. Bilal Mohi ud Din Bhat was the chief guest in the event while Additional Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Ahmad Rather; AMO, CHO, CAO and other officers were also present on the occasion.
A large number of progressive farmers, fruit traders participated in this conference.
During the event farmers were apprised about post-harvest management of fruits and vegetables. They were also apprised about the intervention of technology to minimise post-harvest losses.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that a robust Agriculture supply chain is imperative to fetch a good price for farmer produce. He also highlighted various farmer centric measures employed by the Government to double the income of farmers.
The DC added that Agriculture being the backbone of our economy emphasis is on proper implementation of farmer welfare schemes to percolate benefits of these schemes to the beneficiaries.
He also highlighted various achievements that have been recorded in the farming sector in the district.
Later, a felicitation ceremony was also organised in which progressive farmers and growers, innovators and ODOP Entrepreneurs were given appreciation certificates.
