DC Bilal orders immediate Chadoora bridge restoration

December 10, 2025 | BK News Service

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, today chaired a review meeting to assess the follow-up actions after the joint re-inspection of the damaged Chadoora bridge.

The DC was briefed on the findings of the inspection conducted by the R&B Department and NIT technical experts.
After reviewing the technical inputs, the DC directed the concerned engineers to immediately start the restoration work, stressing that no further delay will be acceptable given the critical nature of the bridge.
The DC emphasised that the Chadoora bridge is a vital commuter link, and restoring connectivity is a top-priority responsibility of the district administration.
He instructed that the restoration plan must be executed strictly as per technical recommendations and that each step must ensure structural safety, durability, and public protection.
The DC issued clear instructions for the engineering teams to mobilise resources on the ground without delay, maintain continuous field monitoring, and provide daily progress updates to the district administration. He reiterated that any lapse, slow progress, or procedural delay would be viewed seriously.
To ensure smooth public movement during the restoration period, the DC also approved the installation of a temporary steel bridge. He directed the R&B Department to initiate this process on fast-track mode, ensuring that the temporary structure is made fully safe, reliable, and fit for regular commuter load until the main bridge is restored.
He urged all departments to work in close coordination, remove administrative bottlenecks, and maintain accountability throughout the process.
The meeting was attended by SDM Chadoora, Superintending Engineer R&B Budgam, Executive Engineer Building Design-I DIQC, Executive Engineer R&B Chadoora, Tehsildar Chadoora, DySP Traffic (Rural) Budgam, and EO Municipal Committee Chadoora.
