
Srinagar, July 2: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Wednesday reviewed the progress of heritage conservation projects being executed across the district at a meeting held in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rifat Aftab Qureshi, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineers of R&B North and South, Executive Engineers from various R&B divisions, and other concerned officers.
The Deputy Commissioner was briefed on the status of restoration, preservation and maintenance works being carried out at several heritage and religious sites, including Ziyarat Makdoom Sahib, Narian Temple, Sharika Devi Temple, Shrine of Syed Yaqoob Sahib, Khankah-e-Moula, Imambara Hasanabad, Hazratbal Shrine, Hari Parbat Fort, Raghunath Mandir, Vasanta School, Mian Shah Sahib Shrine, Kalai Wall in Shahr-e-Khaas, Shiv Temple, Heritage of Kashapa Building, Siraj-ud-Din Shrine, Gopi Nath Tirth, Shri Anandishwar Bhairav Asthapan, Shrine of Noor Shah, and several other heritage projects.
Emphasising the importance of preserving Srinagar's rich cultural legacy, the DC called for close coordination among line departments, executing agencies and the District Administration to ensure restoration works are carried out in accordance with established heritage conservation practices. He stressed that the architectural integrity and historical significance of the sites must be maintained during the restoration process.
Labroo directed the concerned officers to expedite the ongoing works and ensure timely execution and completion of all approved Phase-III heritage conservation projects.
He also reviewed the new heritage conservation projects identified for the current financial year and instructed the departments concerned to complete all necessary formalities and begin work at the earliest.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also assessed the progress of fencing works on Budshah Bridge over the Jhelum River and directed the executing agency to maintain quality standards while completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.
