DC Labroo reviews progress of District Capex Budget 2026-27

Srinagar June 6 : Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the progress of the District Capex Budget for the financial year 2026–27 at the DC Office Complex.
The meeting was attended by senior officers including the Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Planning Officer, Superintending Engineer R&B, Joint Commissioner SMC, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, executive engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, SMC, UEED, Block Development Officers and other district and sectoral officers.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparation and submission of estimates for works proposed under the 2026–27 Capex Budget, along with the physical and financial progress of ongoing works under the 2025–26 budget and Constituency Development Fund (CDF) schemes.
Officials informed that 492 works have been proposed under the 2026–27 Capex plan, out of which estimates for 232 works have already been submitted.
Labroo directed all executing agencies to expedite submission of pending estimates to ensure timely administrative approvals, tendering and execution of works within the limited working season. He stressed the need for time-bound, quality execution to achieve intended developmental outcomes.
Reviewing CDF works, he was informed that 540 out of 756 tendered works have been completed. He directed departments to accelerate the pace of remaining works and ensure early completion, along with prompt submission of estimates for new projects.
The meeting also reviewed heritage conservation projects in Srinagar. The Deputy Commissioner directed immediate initiation of tendering for 45 approved projects under the Heritage Conservation Scheme, involving an estimated cost of ₹63 crore, aimed at preserving the city’s cultural and architectural heritage.
He emphasized close coordination among departments, strict adherence to timelines, and quality implementation for effective utilisation of resources and improved service delivery across the district.
